    Your frequently asked questions
When signing a ship or container lease agreement, the shipping company specifies a certain period called free time, during which the loading or unloading of the cargo must be completed by the agreed time. If the loading and unloading take longer than the free time, demurrage occurs. If the time used is less than the free time, dispatch will occur.
Yes, the cost breakdown is provided before the clearance of goods. Keyhan Matin Qarn Company informs the cargo owner in advance about the final price as well as all costs until the goods are delivered to the warehouse. Therefore, cargo owners are aware of the customs duty before importing their goods and can determine the total cost of the goods by factoring in the purchase price.
Keyhan Matin Qarn Company seals all containers before the goods leave, then insures them. The bill of lading accurately and correctly specifies the details of the goods, such as quantity and weight. Additionally, the seal number and a copy of the bill of lading are sent to the cargo owner.
In customs, seized goods refer to items that are prohibited or unauthorized for import, and are properly identified with accurate and precise details. Customs grants the owner a three-month period to return the goods to the country of origin. However, if the owner does not take action within this period, the goods are considered seized. After the seizure, the owner is given an additional two months to file any complaints with the court of the relevant city or district. If no action is taken within these two months, the goods are considered permanently seized, meaning the government becomes the owner of the goods.
The cargo insurance certificate is a signed declaration that indicates the place of origin of the goods. This certificate is issued by the seller of the goods and their representative. In some countries, the insurance certificate is in the form of specific documents that must be verified by an independent administrative organization, such as the Chamber of Commerce.
Transshipment is a customs procedure in which goods are transferred from one incoming mode of transport to an outgoing mode of transport under direct supervision. This transfer takes place within the scope of a customs office for entry and export.
